There will be five aid stations.

COURSE
50 Mile/50K/Marathon/25K

This is a suburban course through a beautiful park.

All races are on trails with only ½ mile of single track, although the south end of the course runs like a single track due to the horses.

All races will start at 15501 Murphy Lake Road, Savage, MN.

15.6 Mile loop-Miles 1 through 5.6 are rolling hills with rocks and roots but a wide trail. Miles 6 through 12 are mostly flat and very runnable. Mile 12 starts with a ½-mile or so of single track, which is flat, with rocks roots, etc. Miles 13-15 are back to the rolling hills.

The 25K will include the 15.6 mile loop.

50K will include two laps of the 15.6-mile loop.

The Marathon will include one lap 15.6 mile loop, plus 1 more short lap of 9.5 miles and one out/back 1.2 miles. All of the marathon will be on the most difficult northern half of the course. Therefore, step for step, the marathon will be the most difficult. There are no flats in the marathon!

The 50 mile will include three laps of the 15.6 mile loop, plus one short loop lap of 3.2 miles in the hilly northern section.

The course will be well marked by Don Clark and Bonnie Riley, who are very experienced trail runners who mark the Superior Trail runs, Afton, and many other races. The marathon and 50 miles will have specific signs to direct runners at the key junctions.

These events are to be competitive and fun. They will be official races; however, most of the prizes and awards will be for costumes to go along with the Halloween theme.

The weather could be anywhere from the 30s with snow to the 60s and sunny as it was last year. The run will lap back to the parking area in the entire course, so if you need to get shelter in your car, you can. We will also have the ski lodge with wood stove at the starting area and a fire pit at the other main aid station at the horse trailer parking area.

We will have the usual foods; chips, PBJ sandwiches, etc., plus Hammer Nutrition products, including Hammer Gel and HEED.

REGISTRATION
There will be a $50 fee for the 50 mile and $40 for the 50k, marathon and 25K until October 1st , 2009. Fees will then increase by $10. NO registration will be accepted after October 16, 2009 and there will be no race day registration. The fee will include aid, a commemorative shirt, and a medal. The race is listed with UltraRunning and the results will be posted in UltraRunning magazine.
